My Sight Notts - Shared Vision Peer Support Group
Shared Vision is a series of nine sessions that help you to come to terms with your sight loss. Focusing on the practical and emotional effects, Shared Vision gives you the opportunity to express how you feel, sharing your experiences with others and learning from each other.
The sessions cover topics such as:
- Understanding your diagnosis
- Certification and Registration
- Making the best use of your sight
- Understanding your needs, expressing yourself and acceptance
- Managing at home
- Getting out and about
- Self-help and self-care
- Health and wellbeing
- Benefits and concessions
- Employment, learning and knowing your rights
- Adapting and managing expectations
- Having someone to talk to
We also offer peer support groups, so you can maintain the connections you have made on the Shared Vision course. Peer support groups allow you to connect, make new friends, swap tips and ideas and be with people in a similar situation to yourself.
We also offer support sessions for family, carers and friends. This enables people you are close to understand something of what you are experiencing and can adapt to support you with your sight loss.
If you, or anyone you know, is interested or would like to find out more, please contact our Shared Vision Coordinator, Michele Banton, on 0115 970 6806.
