Meadows Children's Centre

Family support and activities for children under 5 and their families

Children's Centres bring together a range of free services for children from birth to five, and their families. Services vary at each centre according to local community needs but all centres provide links to childcare, family support and a range of parent and toddler activities. Anyone who cares for or is expecting a child can register to use the centres.

Family Support

Family support teams who work with children and young people from birth to nineteen and their families, are also based in and around our Children's Centres. Services vary but they all offer play and youth activities, and support in areas including disability, behavioural difficulties, mental health, emotional wellbeing and school attendance.

Once you register to use a children's centre you can take part in activities or use services across all centres in Nottingham. Complete our online registration form or call in to your nearest centre.

Description

Children’s Centres offer provision for under 5’s and their families, they form part of the 0-19 services provided by Family Community Teams.

Services are inclusive to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Each Children’s Centre has a timetable of activities and provision that can be downloaded from this site. The provision is accessible to families and their children in addition to the universal sessions there are more specialist services and activities that can be accessed to support children with their individual needs. They include:

  • Sensory rooms and equipment
  • Toy libraries
  • Story sacks
  • Support and networking groups

To find out what your Children’s Centre has to offer please contact them for more details, an Early Support Specialist or Family Support Worker will be able to speak to you about your child’s individual needs and requirements and ensure that you are supported to access the provision you are interested in.

Children’s Centres are committed in providing a broad and balanced curriculum of activities and believe that all children have the right to;

  • access universal provision
  • access funded education places within local childcare provision, nurseries and schools
  • gain support with transition into settings
  • receive support to reach their fill potential and achieve their best
  • become confident individuals and live fulfilling lives
  • wishes and feels taken into consideration in the planning of the provision and decisions that will affect them

 The Children’s Centre promotes the welfare and development of all children that accesses its provision within each setting in partnership with parents and other relevant agencies.
