Age Friendly Nottinghamshire - Beeston
Helping make Beeston a better place in which to grow older.
Neighbourhood Coordinators, working together with local community groups, are available to open up opportunities to meet people, improve confidence and find a renewed sense of purpose.
This is an 18 month pilot project in Beeston and is a great opportunity to feel more connected to your community, have fun and try something new. No matter how old you are.
SOCIAL CONNECTIONS "Loneliness and social isolation are harmful to our health: research shows that lacking social connections is as damaging to our health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day" Source: Holt-Lunstad, 2010
Is this for you?
Please pick up the phone if you want to be more socially active, make new friends, connect with local people or help out in your community. There are opportunities we can introduce you to, which can help develop your confidence, skills and offer new experiences.
HELPING OTHERS "Findings consistently demonstrate a significant relationship between volunteering and good health, whether in terms of greater longevity, higher functional ability, or lower rates of depression." Source: Corporation for National and Community Service, 2007
