Southglade Children's Centre (Bestwood)
Early Help teams bring together a range of services for children from birth to five, and their family in a local Children’s Centre. Key services include the Early Help teams, Public Health teams and Childcare providers.
The Early Help Services focus on improving outcomes for young children and their family, to reduce inequalities in, and improve upon:
- child development and school readiness;
- parenting aspirations, self-esteem and parenting skills;
- child and family health and life chances.
Activities include fun play sessions, physical activity sessions and singing / story sessions for you and your child to enjoy together.
Ensure the right children get the right support at the right time.

Family Support Workers
The Early Help offer for children under 5 and their family, is provided through open access sessions, targeted group sessions (including parenting, adult learning and volunteering) or one to one work, when needs cannot be met through group provision. Our Family Support Workers listen to the needs of children and families. We use a strength based approach, helping families to identify their own achievements and strengths and build on this when additional support is required. We work with families either in groups or on a one to one basis; providing support on parenting skills, child behaviour, family well-being, work readiness and supporting children’s readiness for nursery.
Once you register to use a children's centre you can take part in activities or use services across all centres in Nottingham.
We ask families to complete a registration form when they access the Children’s Centres. We collect this information to ensure that we are offering families the services that they need and that we make a positive difference.
Complete our online registration form or call in to your nearest centre.
