aebal is a Nottingham-based organisation providing social support for adults with mental health problems, autism and learning disabilities.
We specialise in small groups and one to one support in the community and we run our sessions in the day time, evening and at weekends.
Our aim as a service is to work closely with people to help build confidence, to become more physically active, to develop social skills and to lead more independent lives.
We achieve this by supporting people from home to get out into the community to take up new interests and opportunities. We encourage people to access and travel to mainstream venues, help form new friendships and provide the energy and positivity for everyone to become active members of society.
"The focus for all aebal support is 100% about the interests and social needs of each person. Our active staff have helped people to do such things as join an archery club, acquire an allotment, set up online banking and open a savings account, volunteer at an animal shelter, do a sponsored run, attend Rock City gigs, create a photography portfolio, learn how to cook a Chilli or it might be as simple as getting out the house and going for a walk and a chat by the river.
Our priority is to create sessions that improve mental, physical and emotional well-being and enable people to gain a genuine sense of belonging in the community. The only way to do this is by really getting to know the person we're supporting."

All the activities and opportunities we provide are 100% in the community and as inclusive and mainstream as possible.
We support in small groups and on a one to one basis, without the need for day centres.
We try to be extremely proactive and imaginative with the activities we source and the venues we use.
The sessions are all about finding the right social dynamics and social settings so that everyone feels more confident, accepted and independent out in the community.
