The Gettaway Club - Mencap
The Gettaway Club is a social activities centre for adults with learning difficulties. Based at the Queens Walk Community Centre, it provides an array of activities for all its members.
From art classes to pool tournaments, Wii games to board games as well as the main activity team game based upon popular TV shows such as, "Blankety Blank", "Family Fortunes", "Blockbusters" and X-Factor based Karaoke, as well as many more. Every Gettaway Club evening ends with a members disco.
There Is a Tuck Shop that operates on Site, Tea, Coffee and Biscuits are given out halfway through the evening. The club also arrange regular day trips to theme parks, shows and pantomimes as well as regular evenings such as Karaoke night and themed Discos and parties for annual events such as Christmas, Valentines, Halloween etc.
Gettaway club membership is open to adults (aged 18+) and is held currently on Tuesday evenings from 18:45.
Membership applications can be obtained from the club.
Attendance is strictly membership only.
