Ukrainian Cultural Centre (Clawson Lodge) - Day Centre, Activities & Support
The Nottingham Ukrainian Cultural Centre is a branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), which was established in Nottingham in 1948. Originally sited at Bentick Road in Hyson Green before we moved to Carrington and were officially opened in 2004.
The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain has overall responsibility for the running of the Centre and works in close cooperation with other Ukrainian organisations within the community. Its aims are varied; from promoting Ukrainian culture and traditions, providing resources such as a weekly Day Centre facility, Ukrainian language and cookery classes, to organising social and cultural events and being available for bookings for meetings and parties.
We have a Ukrainian Language School on a Saturday morning and just like all are other activities they have massively increased in numbers because of the war. We are a recognised hub for our Local Authorities and offer a safe place for our new arrivals and help them to network themselves to each other and other new arrivals within the UK and help them integrate into their new community for however long they choose to stay.
