Open Wings Life and Work Skills Centre CIC

Day and time:- Monday to Friday
Description:-  A Life and Work Skills Centre for adults with learning disabilities. Programmes are individually designed to meet each citizen's needs.  Tutor learning ratio is very small and the environment is safe, friendly and fun.  We work in small groups. Citizens are able to choose which skills they wish to develop.  We offer activities in keeping well and as part of this we citizens access the local community Zumba class.  Open Wings has a small garden and basic gardening skills can be used. We work with group homes/organisations who wish to promote living independently and can offer Workshops around moving into independent living or supported living. Social activities and trips out are an integral part of what we do.   We offer work experience opportunities within the local community. For those that can't access a physical service, we can deliver online support and one to one tuition.  Open Wings has delivered Confidence Building, Interview Skills and managing emotions and feelings workshops to organisations working with adults with learning disabilities/difficulties.  These workshops can add extra value to what some providers already offer.

We are building strong links with other organisations to help us deliver a service which is full of varying opportunities.

Currently we are building up a list of local organisations who wish to be part of our Employer Forum which will provide more work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities or difficulties and also look at the barriers for this group into employment.

Cost:- An individual assessment will be made on the cost
and this is funded either through a Direct Payment or self funded.
