My Sight Notts - Works for Me Employment Programme

As of 2021 there are 424,000 people of working age living with sight loss, according to Vision Foundation. Only one in four of these is in employment – this needs to change.

My Sight Notts is offering a first-class employment service called Works For Me, funded by and working in partnership with, the Thomas Pocklington Trust. The service (which will work across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire) offers confidence and skills support, events and advice for people with sight loss to get into work, stay in work or become work ready.

We also want to work with local employers to increase awareness around sight loss and to improve the number of people employed with sight loss, making sure every individual has their accessibility needs met and is valued by their employers.

We can offer the following services:

• CV help and advice (reviewing CVs, CV help guide, ‘CV Builder’ event days)
• Help with job searching & alerts
• Cover letter support (how to guide, 1:1 support, reviewing cover letters)
• Help and support with job applications
• ‘Unlocking and using your skills for employment’ activities & guide
• Interview preparation (mock interviews, 1:1 interview support, interview preparation guide and advice)
• Access to Work help for service users and employers
• Advice on local training providers & volunteering opportunities
• Links to other advice service providers in Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire
• Support if you’re in work but are looking for a career change
• Supporting you to be able to stay in work
• Event days – CV Builder Day, Making Work Accessible (aimed at employers), Interview Preparation Days and more
